Happy May, y’all! Grabbed some good stuff this week. Rental place down the street from me is still trying to get rid of their VHS collection, so I picked up these five:
- Star Kid
- Sticks and Stones: An Exploration of the Blair Witch Legend
- Dracula: Dead and Loving It
Then I stopped by Dark Delicacies for the Beyond The Gates Blu-ray signing and picked up, well, that particular flick. Trailer below you to check out.
My last edition of The Loot was, uh, three and a half years ago, so these are the most recent acquisitions from the past couple weeks:
- The Creature From The Black Lagoon
- Revenge Of The Creature
- The Creature Walks Among Us
- The Fan (1981)
- Maybe I’ll Come Home In The Spring
Feardotcom was likely the last cover art that really struck fear in me, just before I turned into a horror lover. Looking forward to checking it out at some point.
Birthday week loot includes:
- Tales From The Crypt Seasons 5 and 6
- Phantasm II
- Friday the 13th (1980)
- Friday the 13th Part 2
- Friday the 13th Part 3
- Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
- Trick ‘r Treat
Phantasm II is the Scream Factory release, and it rounds out my Phantasm collection. I was contemplating buying the whole Friday the 13th series, but decided against it and bought the 4-movie collection (Part 2 and The Final Chapter will be featured on Fresh Eyes). I actually bought Trick ‘r Treat on Halloween because I realized I didn’t own it and seriously needed to. To wrap it all up, here are some Cryptkeeper puns.
It’s been a long while. I’ve been buying and selling my movies since the last installment of THE LOOT, but I’ve been a terrible at keeping you up to date. So I’m just going to start again and not play catchup because that would be insanity.
I was lucky enough to go to Rock and Shock’s 10th Anniversary a couple weekends ago, and of COURSE picked up some loot:
- Black Devil Doll (2007)
- The Manson Family (2003)
- Mardi Gras Massacre (1978)
- The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1977)
- We Are What We Are (2010)
- You Better Watch Out (2013)
I won’t post all the trailers, but let me leave you with the trailer for Mardi Gras Massacre. This one is a gem:
It was a great Christmas here in the Kuchta household. I got some pretty sweet movies and I appreciate all of those who gifted them to me. Here’s the rundown:
Yes, I got two versions of The Town. Dope, right?
- The Lost Boys
- Red Mist
- S.I.C.K. (Serial Insane Clown Killer)
So, does this person kill clowns? Let’s check the trailer and find out.
Turns out, just a clown killing regular people. Next up, Pendulum Pictures’ Hostile Hauntings! The set includes:
- H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shunned House
- The Woodland Haunting 2
- The Somnambulists
- Hellbound: Book of the Dead
- The River: Legend of La Llorona
- Sleep Disorder
Trying to find trailers for these films is hard. I did find Hellbound: Book of the Dead. Unfortunately, it’s no Hellbound: Hellraiser 2.
I think I’ll finally watch a movie and write about it again. Sounds like a plan.
While I know I shouldn’t be buying myself much of anything during the holiday season, I absolutely COULD NOT pass up the 50 cent VHS sale at the Book Barn. It started during Thanksgiving, so the sale was already a few weeks in. Nonetheless, I walked out of there with quite the loot.
Yes, I already own Ticks. No, it is not on VHS.
AKA The House Where Death Lives.
Considered one of the worst and unnecessary sequels ever, I couldn’t pass it up.
- The Little Shop of Horrors
Probably one of the better films I picked up. The original Roger Corman film with lil’ Jackie Nicholson.
Yeah, that movie with Dennis Quaid as Jerry Lee Lewis. Still in the plastic wrap!
- “Whatever Happened To Aunt Alice?”
Could be pretty huge.
Wes Craven’s made-for-TV classic! I actually had no idea Craven did it until after I got home. And then I got even more excited. Featuring that punk from The NeverEnding Story!
Probably my favorite snag. I can’t find a trailer for it, but I found this clip.
I also purchased The Jacket on DVD. Huge night for the movies, no?
This is a special Birthday Weekend Edition of The Loot. My birthday was Saturday, but I spent some of Friday picking out some solid flicks.
- Dark Night of the Scarecrow
- Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV
- Pink Flamingos
I’ve seen Psycho, but I also found out it’s the 50th anniversary of the film, so a DVD was in order. I watched Pink Flamingos that night with my girlfriend and…well, it was interesting to say the least. I still need to get The Toxic Avenger III, and I’ve always wanted Dark Night of the Scarecrow.
On my actual birthday, I took advantage of the Criterion Collection sale at Barnes & Noble. But, 50% Criterion is still somewhat expensive. So I bought two really cheap movies along with it!
- I Am Curious: Yellow
- I Am Curious: Blue
- Bye Bye Birdie
- Father and Scout
I am currently watching Father and Scout…and it’s god awful. What happened with this TV movie? There was just a 5 second shot of Bob Saget’s ass.
